PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero) or Pelindo 1, and PT Kawasan Industri Medan (Persero) or KIM signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Cooperation Plan for Railway-Based Goods Transportation. The signing of the MoU was carried out by KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo, Pelindo 1 President Director Dani Rusli Utama, and Plt. This Memorandum of Understanding is intended as a commitment and a basis for the parties for further cooperation in the future. As for the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding, namely increasing cooperation in rail-based freight transportation, making joint studies of plans for railway lines or infrastructure from a commercial and operational perspective related to the implementation of the Collective Work Plan, and other forms of potential cooperation agreed by the parties.

The railway line in the area will be built along 4,266 m, which connects the dryport location of PT. KIM to the port of Belawan. This facility will provide convenience for industrial partners as many as 554 industrial businesses employing 75,000 workers.
