Jakarta - PT Pertagas Commerce , a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Gas ( Pertagas ) has signed a Head of Agreement ( HoA ) to supply gas by 75 million cubic feet per day ( mmscfd ) to PT Medan Industrial Area ( KIM ) . PT Pertagas is a subsidiary of PT Pertamina ( Persero ) .
" With the signing of this shows the commitment and synergy among SOEs in order to meet the gas demand in North Sumatra and the surrounding areas and as a follow-up to the commencement of the development process Arun LNG Regasification and Storage Terminal last week and also open access gas transmission pipeline Arun - Belawan , " said President Director of PT Pertagas Hendra Jaya in a statement on Wednesday ( 13/11/2013 ) .
Implementation HoA signing gas supply to industrial areas in North Sumatra is the second after Pertagas Commerce also committed to supply gas for managing Special Economic Zones ( SEZs ) , namely PT PTPN III .
" Pertagas Commerce will supply up to 75 MMSCFD of gas which will be channeled through the gas transmission pipeline open access Arun - Belawan built by Pertagas . Gases from Arun - Belawan transmission pipeline will be connected to the distribution piping along the 175 KM pipeline connecting Arbel with KIM and KEK , " he said .
He explained that the number of 75 MMSCFD , 40 MMSCFD will be used for the needs of industry in KIM , the rest of 35 MMSCFD will be used for the Independent Power Producer ( IPP ) with a capacity of 140 MW for 4-6 KIM region which has an area of approximately 310 hectares .
" Currently , demand for electricity in the region of 4-6 KIM reached 450 MW , while the supply of electricity by PLN 300 MW , " said Hendra .
Medan Industrial Estate is an industrial park located in the Village Mabar , Medan Deli , Medan with a total area of 514 hectares . Gas crisis that has been happening in North Sumatra has caused huge losses to the industry to lead three companies out of business gas users and the two companies cease to operate .
These conditions encourage Pertagas Commerce to promote economic growth in North Sumatra with a supply of natural gas sourced from domestic gas allocation by the government through the facilities of Arun LNG Regasification and Storage Terminal is managed by PT Pertamina Arun Gas , a joint venture between enterprises Pertagas and Aceh .
" With the cooperation of Commerce and KIM Pertagas this , the total commitment of gas supply to industrial estates in North Sumatra from the grandson of company Pertamina has now reached 150 MMSCFD , " Hendra closed .
