Construction of Gas Pipeline Completed September 2015 Belawan

Liputan6.com, Jakarta - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) targeted the construction of a new gas pipeline open access to roads Belawan - Kawasan Industri Medan (KIM) - Special Economic Zones (SEZ) (Bel-KIM-KEK) completed September 2015.

President Director of PT Pertamina Gas Hendra Jaya said the construction of the project began on January 27, 2015, marked with the laying of the first stone by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"The progress of the project work until mid-June has reached 72 percent," said Hendra Jaya during a visit to the project Bel-KIM-KEK in Medan, on Wednesday (24/06/2015).

According to Hendra, the project pipeline stretching 138 kilometers (Km) continues to progress and is expected completed September 2015.

"Ruas Belawan-KIM will be built with 18-inch diameter pipeline with a capacity of 89 MMSCFD. While KIM-SEZ segment which has a diameter of 12 inches with a capacity of 40 MMSCFD," said Hendra.

Hendra said that if the construction of the pipeline segment is completed, the liquefied natural gas (Liquid Natural Gas / LNG) originating from Aceh Arun LNG terminal could supply the energy needs of the industrial sector and power generation that is along the pipeline.

"We woke up the gas pipeline Belawan-KIM-KEK 138 KM, with hopes gas from Arun brought not only to Medan Belawan, there is also the IPP, a special economic zone there are Unilever and Kuala Tanjung," said Hendra. (Pew / Ahm)
